Oxygen is the most important thing in our daily life. This gas was discovered independently by Carl Wilhelm Scheele, in Uppsala, in 1773 or earlier, and Joseph Priestley in Wiltshire, in 1774, but Priestley is often given priority because his work was published first. The name “oxygen” was coined in 1777 by Antoine Lavoisier. We can’t live without oxygen.
The common use of this includes residential heating, internal combustion engines, production of steel, plastics and textiles, brazing, welding and cutting of steels and other metals, rocket propellant and life support systems in aircraft, submarines, spaceflight, and diving. This is mostly required for our brain.
Coming to the topic, You may hear that I said we can’t survive without the respiration. So, my question is How long we can survive without the respiration. Don’t worry, I am here to explain to you what happens if we try this experiment and can we?

Here’s the reason that can we survive without oxygen:
This Oxygen also plays a main role in the Photosynthesis of Plants. A normal person can’t live only for few minutes without the respiration. Due to because the cells present in the brain must require oxygen at all time. Even though our brain’s weight is 2% of our whole body’s weight, our brain takes the 20% of oxygen took by respiration.
The main medium to transfer this gas to all parts of the body is hemoglobin present in our blood if this gas stops receiving then our brain stops it’s functioning. If the brain functioning is stopped then it leads to the death. We also become unconscious.
If the body’s temperature is less, then the oxygen consumption by the body is also reduced. So, the cells in the brain can leave longer. These terms we most helpful to the surgeons while performing the heart transplantation. The disease occurs due to lack of oxygen is called “Anoxic brain injury”.
